Anton Bauer Zweigelt 2017, Wagram, Austria

Anton Bauer

Dry red wine, 75cl. Medium bodied 100% Zweigelt from Wagram, Austria. 13.0% ABV.

Dark ruby garnet, violet reflexes, delicate brightening. Inviting red walleye, a delicate hint of cherries, subtle herbal spice in the nose. Medium body, red cherries on the palate with fine tannins - freshly structured. Already very accessible with a mineral reverberation on the palate with a delicate touch of chocolate. An uncomplicated food companion.

Tasting notes from the judges of the Sommelier Wine Awards 2020

'A big, nicely structured wine, with a mix of red and black cherries, and some smokiness, with soft tannins and a sweet, peppery finish.' Rui Pereira, Cavalry and Guards Club. 'A complex aroma of fresh fruits and oak ageing. A very versatile wine that would work really well in restaurants.' Sara Rossi, Trinity Restaurant.

Excellent alternative to Gamay

An easy drinking alternative to good Beaujolais, less fruit forward but just as moorish.
