Dry white wine, 75cl. Full bodied Single Vineyard 100% Furmint from Tokaj, Hungary. 13.5% ABV. Vegan

The Urban cru lays west of the village of Mád and it is a quite large vineyard with its 42ha. The Szepsy family owns 2,3ha here at app. 250m above sea level and the grapes for this very special wine came from the 3573 parcella, 0.34ha area within the cru where you can still find the ancient Furmint clones with their small loose berried clusters, planted in 1934. Wine made from this vineyard every year, but as a single vineyard only gets released in exceptional vintages such the 2017. This steep rocky hill with rhyolite, quartz gives the wine a tight structure with a layered and unique character that shows floral, stone fruits, and smoky mineral notes with a distinct acidity and a potential to age for decades.

Producer Profile Szepsy

The Szepsy family has been producing Tokaj wines since the 1500s, with the aim of producing the best grapes possible without compromise. The estate is comprised of 50 hectares of vines, that are forty years of age on average, planted on steep slopes at high altitude on a rocky volcanic soil that is considered to be the single, most complex soil composition. The Szepsy family history is deeply linked to that of Tokaj Aszú wine production: In 1631, Szepsy Laczkó Máté was the first man to ever write down how to make Tokaji Aszú. Eighteen generations later, now under István Szepsy’s direction, the same standards remain and younger generations honour the family tradition of continually striving towards perfection.
