Domaine de Baccari Premier de Baccari Rosé No.3. 2018, Meknes, Morocco 75cl

Domaine de Baccari

Dry rose wine, 75cl. Medium bodied Cinsult Grenache and Syrah blend from Meknes, Morocco. 12.5% ABV.

This is a stunning, "gourmand" rosé. If you normally buy upper echelon Provence rosé then you should be trying this. Clear and brightly coloured, with a beautiful sheen. A fruity blend of peach, citrus fruit and boiled sweet flavours, with a fresh and gentle finish.

Tasting notes from the judges of the Sommelier Wine Awards 2019

Sunaina Sethi of JKS Restaurants found much to admire about this worthy Gold winner, describing its as 'really enjoyable, fresh and vibrant with complex fruit and floral notes, leading to a lovely, well-balanced  finish.' Victoria Sharples of St John Wines, meanwhile, found it 'attractive, with floral nuances, good concentration and lifted acidity, with good length.' The Glasshouse's Adam Michocki further described 'rose petals, rhubarb and watermelon notes', which led to a 'structured, concentrated palate' that would be ideal to 'accompany salmon dishes.'

Producer Profile Domaine de Baccari

Hailing from the region of Meknes, the heart of Morocco’s winegrowing region since before the Roman Empire, Domaine de Baccari is nestled on the foothills of the Atlas mountain range at an altitude of 650m. Their terrain is made up of fine, red clay and soft limestone undersoil, which combined with a sunny and slightly cooler climate, make it ideal for growing wine with a strong identity. The domaine produces red and rosé wines from Cinsault, Grenache, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc. Cabernet Franc, in particular, has thrived in the region, forming the backbone of Baccari’s balanced, delicate, fresh and complex wines. The estate has been owned by the same family for generations. They have been collaborating with renown oenologist, Stephane Derenoncourt and his team, since the 2013 vintage.
