Producer Profile Paolo Basso
Paolo Basso, Swiss-Italian originally from Varese, began his career in the Michelin starred restaurant circuit over twenty years ago. He has since excelled in the fine food and rare wines sector, and is known to have one of the most refined palates – most notably being named World’s Best Sommelier in 2013. Recently, Paolo Basso has started producing his own wines from his home base in Lugano. His first own label red wine was the 2014 “Il Rosso di Chiara,” a Rosso del Ticino AOC Bordeaux-Style blend named after his daughter and this range also includes a Ticino DOC White Merlot.
