Canvasback Red Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon 2019, Washington State, USA

Canvasback

Dry red wine, 75cl. Full bodied 84% Cabernet Sauvignon 7% Merlot 7% Malbec and 2% Petit Verdot blend from Washington State, USA. 14.5% ABV.

From its nearly opaque dark-ruby hue to its dramatic aromas of ripe strawberry, grenadine, Bing cherry, sarsaparilla and brown baking spices, this is a beautifully robust and mouth-filling wine. On the palate, ripe berry flavors flow across plush tannins as they mingle with notes of black licorice, star anise, cigar wrapper and a hint of granitic minerality that adds complexity to a long, luscious finish.

Tasting notes from the judges of the Sommelier Wine Awards

'This has quite a savoury nose with great poise, before the power is turned on, with the palate opening into layers of concentrated character, with structure and flavour.' Michael Fiducia, Royal Automobile Club. 'With luscious, soft and full ripeness, there's lots of life left here, with a little vanilla and oak in the background.' Sue Jones, The Harrow at Little Bedwyn.

Producer Profile Canvasback

Spanning just 4,000 coveted acres of land, Red Mountain is Washington State’s smallest winegrowing appellation. It is also its most renowned. With ideal soils, a perfect sloping southwestern exposure, and a dry desert climate with 40+˚ temperature swings between day and night, Red Mountain has done more than establish itself as one of the finest regions in Washington for growing Cabernet Sauvignon; it has rapidly earned a reputation for producing some of the most compelling and distinctive Cabernet Sauvignons in the world. In 2012, building on its 35-year history of making globally acclaimed Cabernet Sauvignons, the Duckhorn Portfolio came to the mountain to make Canvasback Red Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon.
