Maclean's Nose Blended Scotch Whisky, Scotland 70cl

Adelphi

Blended Scotch Whisky, 70cl. Scotland, United Kingdom. 46.0% ABV.

A wonderful new blended whisky from Adelphi this opens up with an exciting nose of burnt citrus peel, sea salt, bonfire, nectarine syrup, lime marmalade, hay bales, coal bunker and oily shed. The equally complex palate offers flavours of puffed rice, homemade rice pudding and white chocolate. Bright citrus lime pickle, with chantilly cream and Viennetta ice cream leads to an indulgent and balanced finish with a whiff of smoke.

Producer Profile

Maclean's Nose, a new blended Scotch whisky from Adelphi, expertly crafted to have a west coast character with the blend containing a high proportion of malt and sherry casks. Named MacLean's Nose due to the close relationship that Adelphi and Ardnamurchan have with Charlie 'The Nose' MacLean along with the beautiful landmark located on the south coast of the Ardnamurchan Peninsula, named MacLean's Nose. Bottled at 46% ABV, un chilled filtered and at natural colour along with an impressive label which has been printed on crushed barley paper made from a byproduct of whisky production.

An extraordinary achievement

Never really been a fan of blends but have always had respect for Adelphi and, more recently but obviously, the Holy Grail that is Ardnamurchan Distillery. I was particularly sceptical of the claim they had tried to give this a distinctive West Highland character. I was wrong and they were right. This is a whisky of huge, and undoubtedly West Highland, character. It turns out I am a fan of one particular blend. In fact, the only single malts I’d place above it are Ardnamurchan, Oban and Talisker. That probably gives a very clear picture of my taste in whisky but, even if you disagree strenuously with that favourites list, please do give MacLean’s Nose a try.
